Bolivarian Government of Aragua restored San José de Cagua Church

With a solemn Eucharist, Monsignor Enrique José Parravano, Bishop of Maracay, reopened and consecrated the San José de Cagua Church, after the total restoration work carried out by the local government on this sacred temple, a historical and cultural icon of the city of Cagua in the Sucre municipality of the state of Aragua.

During the ceremony, the bishop explained that, thanks to the quality of the work carried out by the workers of the Bolivarian Government in this temple, the Church was declared the Diocesan Sanctuary of San José.

“This work of total restoration is a testimony of love for the Lord and for the community. It is the house of God and the gate of heaven, a visible symbol of the Lord's presence in the midst of his people,” Parravano exclaimed.

According to a press release, the total renovation of the San José de Cagua Church included in a first phase; the replacement of the roof with more than 1,200 square meters of wood, installation of asphalt mantle and tiles, the total recovery of the bell tower, modernization of the clock area, restoration of the coral balcony.

In this second stage, a complete intervention was carried out on the internal part and the façade; where they built more than a thousand square meters of granite floors in shades of green and pink, installation of more than 1,500 linear meters of cables and more than 60 electrical outlets, the installation of 57 LED lamps, 6 chandeliers, and the relocation of the outdoor electrical system with new poles and reflectors. Also, new main and side staircases were built, as well as a ramp for people with reduced mobility.

New niches inspired by the colonial era, complete restoration of the façade and sides, arches of the corridors, construction of a new altar and relocation of the baptismal font, installation of a modern sound system, improvement of the rainwater drainage system, construction of a parking ramp, internal and external painting, remodeling of the sacristy, catechism room, bathrooms, doors, embellishment, ornamentation in the outdoor area.
