Through the three levels of government, the educational community and popular support, more than 120 public, private and subsidized educational institutions are being rehabilitated in the state of La Guaira to guarantee the right to education and the start of classes for boys, girls and young people.
This was stated this Friday by the Minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, who highlighted the importance of “articulated work and the spirit of solidarity” demonstrated by citizens in the face of the difficulties generated by the earthquake movement.
“When we all come together and collaborate, we become one block and things work out faster and more efficiently. This has demonstrated the high level of community support of Guaireños,” said Luisa Castillo State Basic School, one of the institutions already rehabilitated.
This venue, according to a press release, has an enrollment of 400 students in the morning shift and hosts students from the José María España High School during the afternoon shift, whose structure was affected by earthquakes and is currently undergoing recovery.
For his part, the governor of the state of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, highlighted the effectiveness of the work carried out in the 107 days that have elapsed since the earthquake, through the Community and Military Brigades for Education and Health (Bricomiles) and other government entities.
He explained that 118 schools classified as having minor or moderate damage have already been recovered, while two large institutions - the Emilio Gimón Sterling School, which serves more than 2,200 students, and the Divine Providence College - are undergoing a major structural intervention process.
