Fully rehabilitated and equipped to provide highly complex cardiovascular and cerebrovascular care to the population, the hemodynamics service of the Dr. José María Vargas hospital, located in Cotiza, Caracas, was reinaugurated.

The activity was led by the Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez Viña, who highlighted the relevance of this medical area in the national context, while noting that heart disease represents the main cause of morbidity and mortality in the country, so having a modern and functional service is essential for dealing with emergencies and saving lives.

“The investment made is not limited to infrastructure. Human capital has also been strengthened, made up of highly trained specialists, doctors, nurses and technicians. This service represents a concrete and quality response to complex cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, reaffirming the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to the right to health and life,” said Minister Gutiérrez Viña.

It should be noted that, according to a press release from the health portfolio, this service will serve an estimated population of 1.5 million, directly benefiting more than ten thousand families. An operating capacity of 1,500 services per year is projected.

The Hemodynamics Service is aimed at diagnosing and treating circulatory and heart conditions using minimally invasive procedures. Among the services that will be offered are cardiac and cerebral catheterization, stenting, the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators, electrophysiology studies, angiography, blood flow measurements and peripheral vascular treatments.
