The Bolivarian Government reopened the Jesús Soto Modern Museum in Ciudad Bolívar, Bolivar state, with the exhibition of more than 500 works by the plastic artist, as well as other national and international pieces.

The activity was attended by the Deputy Minister of Image Arts of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture and president of the National Museum Foundation, Mary Pemjean, who said that this event symbolizes the revitalization of Venezuelan culture and the commitment to the preservation of the national artistic heritage.

Pemjean indicated that the recovery and reopening of this museum was part of the 130 days of administration of the new term of President Nicolás Maduro.

For her part, the director of the Jesús Soto Modern Museum, Mireya Núñez, reported that the work included the complete rehabilitation of seven rooms and other spaces, the implementation of a state-of-the-art air conditioning and security system.

Also, the waterproofing of roofs, restoration of gardening and restoration of lighting that help to provide an optimal environment for the exhibition and preservation of works.

Núñez highlighted the recovery of Cube 7, which housed the work Rotating Yellow and Silver, by Jesús Soto, an emblematic piece that had suffered considerable deterioration for more than 20 years. “Its restoration is the best gift and it also coincides with the 102nd anniversary of the artist's birth,” he said.
