Representatives of the Anti-Drug Task Force in Venezuela and the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) held a meeting to address threats related to drug trafficking and the mechanisms to deal with them, in order to guarantee sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting, which was led by the National Anti-Drug Superintendent, Danny Ferrer Sandrea, was attended by the researcher of the Chemistry Center and head of the Chemical Waste Management and Control Unit of the IVIC, Nelson Gómez, the National Anti-Drug Superintendency reported on his account on the social network Instagram.
Gómez presented a paper on techniques for camouflaging controlled substances with other substances that prevent drug detection through common methods.
During his analysis, he urged the strengthening of the laboratories of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and research centers in the country to promote the fight against drugs.
For his part, Superintendent Danny Ferrer Sandrea warned about the constant evolution of drugs and the demand for an immediate response.
To learn about these new dynamics and techniques for the identification of illegal substances, he highlighted the importance of training officials at customs and checkpoints to deal with these new types of traffic.
He also commented that these experiences will be incorporated into the National Anti-Drug Plan 2026-2031, with special emphasis on the development of an early warning system and the comprehensive training of all actors, to ensure the safety and comprehensive well-being of the population.
The Bolivarian Government seeks to promote scientific training and the articulation of institutions in the sector for the welfare of the people.
