Venezuela and Indonesia agreed to commercialize 200,000 oil palm seeds for planting in Venezuelan territory, through agreements established between Industrias Diana C.A. and Sinar Mas de Indonesia.

The action corresponds to the Palma Soberano Plan, aimed at planting 200,000 hectares in the next 10 to 15 years.

In this regard, the president of Industrias Diana, Félix Romero, commented “the receipt of these more than 200,000 DAMI MAS seeds from Jakarta complies with the bilateral agreements signed in 2022, the foundations for the new sustainable future of Venezuelan palm cultivation.”

In addition, he noted that the planting of these seeds will accelerate productive self-sufficiency to supply the shelves of the Venezuelan people with essential products such as oil, butter and margarine.

These bilateral efforts of both nations allowed Sinar Mas to arrive in Latin America for the first time to learn about the palm oil process on Venezuelan soil, accompanied by representatives from Indonesia such as the ambassador, Fikry Cassidy, the head of Economic Affairs, Ramanna Sirait, as well as the sales and marketing manager of that company, Saistyo Agi Hendiwiyarto and the director of the SMART Research Institute Jean-Pierre Regis Caliman.

Indonesian visitors toured the extractive plants and planting areas in the south of Lake Maracaibo in the state of Zulia, where they verified the progress of the plants and the preparation of the nurseries for the planting of the new genetic material.
