Bolivian Government cleans up lower Neverí river basin

Starting this Tuesday, February 20, 72 fishermen and eight boats will be deployed to work on the sanitation of the Neveri riverbed, with the removal of bora, reeds, tree trunks and vegetable waste 14.2 kilometers from the tributary of the metropolitan area of the Anzoátegui state.
The sanitation of the riverbed is carried out within the framework of the regional government's Pre-Winter 2024 plan and the deployment covers the stretch from the area adjacent to the José Antonio Anzoátegui water treatment plant, to its mouth to the sea.
In a local press release, it reports that the tributary is intervened every year to clear it of the aquatic plant and other plant elements, in order to improve the hydraulic conditions of the river in terms of its natural discharge. Ernesto Pericana, engineer in charge of the project, indicated that the removal of plants and plant material will be carried out manually by fishing crews , and then it is intended to incorporate heavy machinery to optimize the intervention.
