The Federation of Neighborhood Councils (FEJUVES), Social Control and trade union organizations in Bolivia organized a march to protest against the increase in the price of bread, following the decision of the Rodrigo Paz government to eliminate the state subsidy for flour.

The president of FEJUVES La Paz, Jorge Paredes, stressed that the protest is not limited to the increase in the price of bread, but also refers to increases in electricity and water rates. “Behind this leadership are thousands of families who face poverty and misery. We cannot remain indifferent to the country's crisis,” he said.

The government measure directly affected producers gathered in the National Confederation of Bakers of Bolivia (CONAPABOL), who relied on the subsidy to keep prices affordable.

According to what was published on the Telesur website, residents of La Paz and El Alto reported that, in recent months, their bills for basic services increased by up to 150%, a situation that aggravates the economic situation of families.

The president of the Social Control of La Paz, Eulogio Aruquipa, denounced alleged manipulations of electricity and water meters by DELAPAZ and EPSAS technicians, and stated that the protest will also spread against the increase in the prices of basic products, such as beef.
