The BRICS group will examine requests for full membership from interested countries next year.

This was reported by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, who assured that each of the new BRICS member countries has a “well-deserved reputation”

During an interview with journalist Zenia Komisárova, of the TVBRICS channel, reviewed by Prensa Latina, she stated that the number of states interested in taking part in the group's activities has exceeded 30, at the same time, which confirmed that 13 nations have the support of the members of the block as potential partners and received the relevant invitations.

He asserted that thanks to teamwork, mutual understanding was achieved on almost all the main issues. “The adopted Declaration was carried out on the basis of a balance of interests,” he said.

He also insisted that the essence of the final declaration is the need to significantly increase the share of countries of the Global South and the Global East in global governance mechanisms, including the Security Council of the United Nations (UN), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and others.

The Russian Foreign Minister added that one of the main political achievements of the XVI BRICS Summit was the demand to respect the principles of the UN Charter in relation to the Ukrainian crisis. “Especially since this declaration was signed by respected, influential, fast-growing and politically active countries,” he said.

However, he stressed, there is also the principle of self-determination of peoples and the requirement that all members of the UN respect human rights regardless of race, sex, language and religion.
