The
general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello
Rondón, held the current president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, responsible for the
victory of the Pinochetist José Antonio Kast in the ballot last Sunday in the South American country.
“For all this, we must thank the current president.
He is responsible then. When you want to govern in lukewarmth, when you
don't want to understand who elected you, if you don't want to govern for the elites, these things happen.
But hey, the Chilean people will have the opportunity
when they have elections again,” said Cabello.
During the weekly press conference
of the red awning, he recalled that Kast's parents “participated
in an atrocious coup against the president legitimately elected in Chile by the people.
And after that coup d'etat, they committed some of the most
terrible massacres you can imagine against a people (...) so imagine what the next president
has in his blood”.
He said that, according to real stories, during the Augusto Pinochet
dictatorship, opponents were thrown “even into a stadium and shot there.
And before they were shot, they were tortured. Víctor Jara, for
example (...) Entire families disappeared, families separated”.
Cabello recalled that, then, “many who left
Chile came to Venezuela and we received them as lovingly as we Venezuelans are.
They lovingly made their lives here in Venezuela, they
joined the People of Venezuela.”
