The sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, reported that the conspiracy plot that has been dismantled since December in Venezuela is closely linked to sectors of the extreme right linked to drug trafficking.

“This is a plot that is united; here the politics of the Venezuelan right have completely lost its shame, the scruples, there are no scruples, they use drug trafficking money to buy weapons, explosives, assassins, bandits and terrorists,” he said at a press conference, in which he recalled the arrest of Mr. José Enrique Rincón, linked to María Corina Machado, and who used his shrimp companies for drug trafficking from the state of Zulia.

He specified that, as part of this operation, the authorities captured and brought to justice a group of mayors, as well as SENIAT officials, police and personnel working in the various customs offices.

At the same time, he referred to the fact that as part of this operation, at first, more than 500 rifles of different types were seized.

He took the opportunity to question the media that are silent and complicit in the face of these events. “We've said this several times and we're going to keep insisting on this topic; what's more, we've said that when the New York Times comes out with this, then they're going to start believing it,” he said.
