Cabello: García Miragaya was in contact with the FBI to attack Venezuela

The sectoral vice-president for Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, denounced a new conspiracy attempt against national sovereignty.

During a press conference, Cabello revealed that Armando García Miragaya, 72, a chemist by profession and former Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) official, was communicating with an interpreter from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), through a resident of that country.

“Juana Nieves is his ex-wife (of García Miragaya) who is in the United States, his wife puts him in touch with a lady named Juliana who is an interpreter for the FBI (...) This man was contacted to validate, from the academic world, a false narrative that seeks to justify an attack against Venezuela. What is intended is to create conditions for foreign intervention,” Cabello warned.

The sector vice president indicated that Venezuelan authorities have telephone recordings in which García Miragaya talks with the FBI.

“All of this is part of a file manufactured to feed the discourse of extremist sectors that promote the bombing of our country,” he said.

Cabello also linked this case to recent statements by opposition political actors such as María Corina Machado who, in her opinion, seek to destabilize the country by spreading false information and promoting violent actions. “Behind this operation there are interests that combine conspiracy, drug trafficking and terrorism. We will not rest until we dismantle every attempt at aggression,” he stressed.

He also reported that within the framework of Operation Lightning, State security forces have seized more than 31 tons of drugs in recent days, which evidences, as he said, the link between drug trafficking and destabilizing plans.

“The Venezuelan people must be alert. No one in the FBI acts without authorization from their superiors. This is not an isolated event, it is part of a strategy to undermine the peace and stability of the nation,” he concluded.
