On Wednesday night, Diosdado Cabello, first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), recalled some episodes from the life of Eliécer Otaiza and their journey together on the path of revolution.
“Honor and glory to Eliécer Otaiza,” he said.
Cabello mentioned that Otaiza was once left for dead. They took him to the morgue of the Military Hospital but a doctor who came in saw him, lifted the sheet and, feeling that he was not cold, knew that he was alive. “Otaiza weighed 37 kilos (he measured 1.87 centimeters), and then he stood up with the will and clarity of his whole life (...),” he said.
The first vice-president of the red awning added that when “Eliécer was in rehabilitation I said I'm going to swim some pools, and I was doing like three thousand pools at a time (...). The fascist right knew what they were doing when they murdered him, he was the one who moved the neighborhoods and after his death they tried to kill him in a moral way (...) as they always do”.
