This Monday, at a press conference of the National Directorate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the general secretary of the red awning assured that the people are preparing for the canonization of the first two Venezuelan saints: Santa Carmen Rendiles and San José Gregorio Hernández.
“José Gregorio Hernández leads to a national consensus, there is hardly a family in this country where someone is not called José Gregorio,” said Cabello, stressing that “he is the saint of the poor by faith and because before in this country there were no hospitals, people trusted themselves to their saints and found relief.”
Regarding the canonization of Saint Joseph Gregorio Hernández, on October 19, the general secretary of the PSUV assured that “if it had been up to us that José Gregorio Hernández was a saint, he would already be 70 years old... That was a decision of the Vatican and Pope Francis and the authorization did not depend on us; but in the hearts of Venezuelans years ago it would be holy.”
