The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, criticized that the government of Panama acts under imperial interests and not based on the rights of the People.

During the broadcast of the program “Sin Truco Ni Maña”, Cabello referred to the recent protests in Panama and criticized the president of that country, José Raúl Mulino. “Thirty-two days of protest in Panama, a state of emergency in the province of Bocas del Toro, and former presidential candidates Torrijos and Lombana had their visas revoked for criticizing President Mulino's agreement with the United States,” he read.

He also rejected what he considered a “model of subordination” of governments such as Mulino's, which seek to ingratiate themselves with Washington. “They want to kneel in any way, and they make the best effort to kneel to the United States government,” he said.

Cabello's statements come in a context of growing social tension in Panama, where citizens have been protesting for more than a month in rejection of policies adopted by the National Executive. Among the most criticized measures is the agreement signed with the United States on security issues, which has led to demonstrations in different provinces and the imposition of a state of emergency in Bocas del Toro.

Additionally, the Panamanian government revoked the visas of former presidential candidates Ricardo Lombana and Martín Torrijos after issuing opinions contrary to the agreement, a fact that has been denounced by political sectors and social organizations as retaliation for exercising their right to criticism.
