The Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, emphasized that the attempt to challenge the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, in the investigation of alleged crimes against humanity committed in Venezuela failed.

“That challenge was tried by María Corina's team of inept people against the prosecutor,” she highlighted on her Con El Mazo Dando program, on broadcast number 516.

For that reason, he ruled that the extremist opposition sector in this case, “went for wool and came out shaved.”

Upon reading the resolution, Cabello stated that the ICC “had to explicitly state in writing that there is still no case against Nicolás Maduro.”

He added that “at this point there is no investigation against Nicolás Maduro Moros.”

“The Criminal Court responds to the opposition, that they will not tolerate their pretensions to exploit the Court for political purposes, as they did with USAID, for personal purposes with the management of their funds,” he said.

The Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) declared the request to challenge prosecutor Karim Kham in the above-mentioned investigation inadmissible on Monday, February 18.

The decision on the application of the Arcadia Foundation, made in November 2024, was published on the ICC website. In the document, they explain that an urgent motion on alleged procedural irregularities and ethical violations, made by the same foundation, was also denied.
