“They are the same deserters of the Homeland,” said the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, about the association of mercenaries who deserted from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and are part of the recently dismantled terrorist plans.

“Do you remember how they mistreated those who came out on February 23 (2019)? They were thrown aside, only the mercenaries remained, those who continue to live from this, even belong to mercenary groups that go to a country and charge for it,” said Cabello in relation to the three dismantled plans.

The PSUV general secretary highlighted that the plans date back to Operation Aurora, which took place in Bolivar state on December 22, 2019.

“A group of deserters from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), who came from Brazil, during the administration of (Jair) Bolsonaro, staged this operation, the attack on a fort, they failed because even the weapons were left lying around,” he said.

Cabello highlighted that one of the detainees recounted how they were extracted and trained in Manaus, Brazil, left for a little more than 20 days and then presented. “Why didn't they put them under the command of the Venezuelan government, why didn't they make the minimum gesture of declaring: 'I don't agree with this fact that violates the sovereignty of a neighboring country?”

In that sense, he recalled that “these same people are the ones who appear now with an operation called Gold and they put Óscar Pérez and Ronald Ojeda, that's where the name of Oro is inspired, by those two characters... Óscar Pérez, who cowardly threw a grenade at a preschool from a helicopter, is a hero to them...”

He also recalled an officer “calling Rodríguez Araña, a very bad cadet, a very bad officer, similar to the one named Angelo Heredia who was captured in Colombia, was an absolute failure as a soldier, his companions can say so”.
