The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of
Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, reiterated that the decision on the schedule for the presidential
elections in 2024 belongs to the National Electoral Council (CNE).
During the usual weekly press conference of the
red awning, Cabello highlighted that during the Great Day of National Dialogue, promoted by
President Nicolás Maduro, many date proposals have been submitted for
the holding of the elections, by the different
political and social sectors of the country.
“The president of the National Assembly (Jorge Rodríguez),
carrying out the work entrusted, has met with all sectors, I think
there are 39 political organizations with which brother
Jorge has met, he has listened to them; there are proposals for dates made by an
opposition sector, some that go in March, some in May, others in June, others in
December... there are the proposals of everyone,” he said.
However, he emphasized that “the CNE is the one who is going to make the
decision. Oh, but we have heard all these people who make an approach,
some politicians, because they are interested in a particular date; we, the PSUV, have said that when the CNE convenes there, the PSUV will be present and
we are going to elections to win them. We are preparing to
win them,” he ratified.
