The general secretary of the United
Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, emphasized that with the
great victory of the People this Sunday, “those who tried to boycott this beautiful process where
a people took to the
streets” to exercise their right to vote were left behind and will remain in the garbage of history.
In this regard, during
the PSUV press conference, he also recognized the people who came out to vote in the midst of the rains
in the country, since yesterday it coincided with the entry of the first
tropical wave in Venezuela.
“In the eastern states it started to rain, in Monagas, Anzoátegui, Nueva Esparta, Sucre, in Delta Amacuro; well that was
heroic, the companions back in the Antonio Díaz municipality, the drops were so
big that they had to look for a tarp to cover themselves (...) but those are the people who don't give up,
who respond to adversity and there is the answer: Great Popular Victory, the rest are stories of the journey,” he said.
He stressed that, despite the attempts at sabotage, “this people expressed themselves free and today there is an extraordinary victory for the governorates, 23 out of 24, of the National Assembly.”
