The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, specified that Venezuela is a sovereign country and decides “who flies in its spaces and who doesn't.”

He clarified that “we don't need to threaten anyone, because we are a people of peace, as they have said out there.” He reported that this comes because the United States issued a measure called NOTAM, which is a warning about airspace that includes other countries, not just Venezuela.”

In his Con El Mazo Dando program, Cabello questioned “how is it possible that it is so dangerous to fly to Venezuela and on Monday an aircraft from the United States with migrants arrived in the country? These are 175 people (144 male, 31 female and 7 minors) and a non-Venezuelan citizen who was smuggled and returned to them. It's the immorality of those who govern the United States,” he ironized.

D stressed that the national government, in a sovereign decision, told companies that if they did not resume flights within 48 hours, they would not resume them again: “keep your planes and we keep our dignity,” he said, referring to the airline IBERIA.
