The sectoral
vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón,
warned police officers that those who stray will have to respond and bear the consequences of their actions.
“The
Revolutionary Government of President Nicolás Maduro does not tolerate vagrancy or corruption.
Whoever strays, who responds and assumes the consequences,”
Cabello said on his Instagram account in which he shared a video of a case in which police officers were arrested for trying to extort money from a
citizen in the
Sinamaica mayor's office in Maracaibo, Zulia state.
The audiovisual
shows the citizen's complaint stating that police officers threatened to put
him in prison in exchange for money. In turn, he
thanked the agencies that dealt with the complaint and these officials are
already under the order of the law.
“ The law applies here no matter what it falls,” Cabello emphasized, stressing that police officers must honor the uniform; as well as earn the love and respect of the people.
