The country's state security forces and intelligence agencies dismantled a new terrorist operation by irregular groups linked to the extreme right, which sought, among other things, to attack military forts, reported the Sectorial Vice President for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón.

At a press conference held this Thursday, Cabello explained that this operation was called “Gold”, in honor of the late terrorists Oscar Pérez and Ronald Ojeda.

“They had three fundamental actions to take, to make an impact and to get paid,” he said. He explained that these were attacks on Fort Conopoima in Bolivar state; Fort Tabacare in Barinas and the kidnapping of the magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice, Maikel Moreno.

“They were going to attack Fort Conopoima, believing that the country's arsenals were there. Thinking that was true, imagine the level of criminal mind of those who were thinking of putting explosives in a military fort that is in a city. Imagine that was true, imagine the number of dead,” he said.

In the same way, Cabello noted that the detainees have confessed and have provided information to continue the investigations.
