The Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize opens its call until February 28, 2025 for writers from the region to submit their works through their web portal, in this new edition dedicated to praising literature and celebrating cultural wealth.

The Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize was created with the purpose of perpetuating and honoring the work of the eminent novelist and stimulating the creative activity of Spanish-speaking writers.

According to information from Venezolana de Televisión, in this new edition, writers from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal are invited to participate with novels published between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2024.

During the launch of the call for the 21st edition of the prestigious International Prize, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, highlighted the figure of Rómulo Gallegos as an unavoidable reference in the anti-imperialist struggle and the construction of a Latin American identity.

Villegas emphasized the need to spread his legacy and thought and stated that the award that bears his name “is a tribute that impels us to keep his work and vision alive”.

One of the novelties of this edition is the inclusion of novels in digital format to the participation, thus expanding the possibilities of accessing the call. In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to see their work published in an edition of 50,000 copies, which guarantees a greater dissemination of their work.
