The president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Nicolás Maduro, emphasized that in Venezuela there is a new democracy, not the bourgeois, oligarchic democracy, nor the neocolonial one that empires want to impose, “it is the democracy of the People, who hear, speak, decide, of the courageous Venezuelan people.”

“The People of Venezuela in themselves carry the rebellion of an entire continent: Latin America and the Caribbean,” he said during his participation in the mobilization on the occasion of the closing of the campaign of the candidates and candidates of the Great Patriotic Pole Simon Bolivar (Gppsb), in Caracas.

On the extremist opposition's call for abstention, he emphasized that “they are going to fail once again, they have failed many times.”

“They have the lyrics of defeat and failure painted on them. This People will continue to go forward, governing and governing themselves,” he said.

He said that after the elections of May 25, “comes more democracy, more economic and social recovery, more comprehensive development. On July 27, we have another election and so we are going to be from choice to election with popular sovereignty alive and active.”
