During the development of the March for Peace staged in the country's capital city, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, emphasized the supportive nature of the Venezuelan people and their commitment to those who today suffer the ravages of war.

“We are committed to the peoples who today suffer the ravages of war. This march represents a clear message from Venezuela to the world: A cry for peace and life,” he said.

Meléndez said that, despite the rain that fell in the city of Caracas, citizens did not stop and took to the streets to raise their voices against violence, in defense of the peoples who face bombings and missiles.

He took the opportunity to denounce international actors that “promote destruction and chaos, reaffirming that Venezuela rejects all forms of intervention and war.”

During the mobilization this Wednesday, the Venezuelan people support the proposal of the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, to convene a Peace Summit, an initiative that seeks to bring together world leaders in defense of dialogue, the sovereignty of peoples and global peace.
