The mayor of
Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, highlighted this Tuesday that the Venezuelan people took to the streets of the country
to demonstrate that the Bolivarian nation is a
territory of unity and dignity and that it is respected.
Since the massive
mobilization to honor the eight-star national flag as an emblem of
sovereignty and the Liberator Simon Bolivar's Sword of Peru, Meléndez praised the courage of the population to maintain peace and independence in
the face of aggressions and sieges from foreign empires.
“Venezuela is a
people of dignity, a people that are respected, a people who are willing to do
anything to defend our country and that is because we are united (...) we are all on the
streets as one. National strength, the strength of all and everyone as
patriots who love this country to defend it,” he said.
He recalled that today
marks the bicentenary of the delivery of the Sword of Peru to the Liberator
Simon Bolivar, and reiterated that “we are a people of peace, who do not want
intervention (...) Our People have demonstrated in all their struggles what
we are made of, Caribbean blood flows through our bodies,” he emphasized.
