On September 7, 1814, the Liberator Simon Bolivar explained in the Carúpano Manifesto the causes of the failure of the Second Republic.
In this one, Bolívar complained about the injustice of men and advocated divine justice, stating that his Venezuelan citizens were not prepared for the exercise of justice; therefore, they were unable to develop their own laws, which meant that they could not understand the true concept of freedom, which is based on practical exercise and not just on words.
The Liberator strongly criticizes the Venezuelan people, because they did not follow their ideals and, on the contrary, he celebrated the strength of the Colombian people in the face of their position for freedom. This document contains clear thinking about the collapse of the Revolution, which remains in the purely political sphere, trampled by the enemies of the country.
Bolívar declares that the establishment of freedom in a slave country is a work so impossible to carry out suddenly, that it is beyond the reach of every human being; “because just as justice justifies the audacity of having undertaken it, the impossibility of acquisition qualifies the insufficiency of the means”.
