This Thursday, October 16, the former official residence of the
governor in San Juan de los Morros, Guárico, known as the “
Yellow House”, opened its doors to become a sociocultural space.
In this place, which is now destined for
the population to know and appreciate the rich history of the llanera entity, it exhibited works, paintings and handicrafts
during the reopening; as well as samples
of local cuisine for the enjoyment of the attendees.
The Deputy Minister of Identity and
Cultural Diversity, Ignacio Barreto, expressed his support for Governor
Donald Donaire's initiative to convert the old government house into a
cultural space, stressing that “every time spaces are created to express the creative
powers of the people, it is a reason for profound celebration.”
He also emphasized that the Great Mission Viva
Venezuela Mi Patria Querida, promoted by President Nicolás Maduro,
seeks to “vindicate the Venezuelan cultured people and turn them into an army that
strengthens the identity values of our nation, especially at critical
moments for the defense of our Sovereignty.”
Barreto also highlighted that this is the first
time in history that a governor has a government house for popular
enjoyment, following the example of the head of state, who “offered the presidential
residence, now known as the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House, for cultural activities.”
“It's essential to rewrite the history of
this house. Now, we must build a new narrative, a story of
creation and of the creative values of the Venezuelan people, which are reflected in
their traditional manifestations and in the work of their cultivators and artisans. That
this house serves to strengthen Venezuela is a step towards a new
page in the contemporary history of Venezuela,” he said.
For his part, Donaire invited the
community to visit the recently inaugurated “house of the Guarique people”,
stating that “every weekend there will be cultural activities,
plays, art exhibitions and presentations by
Guariqueño visual artists, as well as tastings of the rich cuisine of the plain. We
invite all the people of Guárico and Venezuela to come to San Juan de los Morros to
visit our Yellow House.”
