The Eleazar López Contreras Cultural House opened its doors this Wednesday to inaugurate the traveling exhibition “Miradas a Nuestro Essequibo”, which brings together the work of 37 national artists and is an initiative of the Institute for the Arts of Image and Space (IARTES) and was conceived by the plastic artist Luis Galíndez.
According to information from the Ministry for Culture, the opening event was attended by Nelson Bastardo, general coordinator of the Cultural House; Zacarías García, general director of IARTES; as well as artists and cultural managers.
Bastardo highlighted the joint effort of the team at the recently inaugurated Cultural Center to make this exhibition possible. “We want this to be the cultural house of El Paraíso parish and to become a point of reference for the entire community of Greater Caracas,” he said with enthusiasm, inviting everyone to visit this space open to the community.
For his part, Zacarías García expressed his gratitude for the reception at La Casona and for the participation of the artists of the Permanent Congress of Arts and Space, who also contribute to this collective exhibition. “This event seeks to be a space of equality between the institutions of the Venezuelan State, not only culturally, but also politically and citizens. In addition, we hope that more artists will join this initiative in future editions,” he said.
The day was enlivened by the María Isabel Carrasquel Dance School, part of the Casona Eleazar López Contreras team. Its members, Jullinne Monagas, AnnaPaula Zerpa, Julieth Segovia and Arianys León, with more than a decade of experience, delighted the attendees with their talent.
The works on display use various plastic art techniques to address the transcendental struggle for Guiana Essequiba, seeking to generate awareness and reflection in the public. In addition, the exhibition “Miradas a Nuestro Essequibo” will be available to the public at the Eleazar López Contreras Cultural House, inviting reflection and strengthening the sense of territorial belonging.
