The president of the Venezuelan Chamber of the Food Industry (CAVIDEA), Juvenal Arveláez, reported significant growth in the consumption of rice, sugar cane, alcohol, coffee, and other products.

At the meeting with the National Council for Productive Economy, led by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, Arveláez presented some results of the food system and recognized the management of the ministers who accompanied private entrepreneurship in promoting the development of the Venezuelan agri-food system.

He stated that consumer needs in Venezuela have also grown. “Consumption has grown and in this quarter, even more so. The consumption of rice, pre-cooked corn flour, pasta, wheat flour, powdered milk, as well as eggs, chicken, pork and sausages. We have everything significantly guaranteed up to the legs for this December,” he said.

“We keep the shelves crammed with domestic production in an important way and those, President, that we have not yet achieved, are going to complement each other to meet the tastes and preferences of that Venezuelan consumer and we are going to give them food security and food sovereignty,” he explained.

He also reported that the organization he chairs together with national authorities plan to carry out, in 2026, a program for the development of domestic sectors with export quality.
