The Deputy Minister of Development for the Cultural Economy, Raúl Cazal, highlighted that the Bolivarian Revolution has distributed more than 500 million books since its inception in 1999, regarding the policies of promoting texts and reading promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez Frías and President Nicolás Maduro.

“With the book we celebrate reading, we celebrate that our people have achieved with all their exploits, with all their battles, to have books everywhere in their houses, in each of their places where they live, in their communes, and those books have been a planting that has been going on for 26 years and we have delivered more than 500 million copies as seeds,” he said.

He also highlighted the massification of reading as well as the results obtained in the 1st Teresa de la Parra National Youth Literature Competition, aimed at high school students and organized by the Rómulo Gallegos Foundation Center for Latin American Studies.

He stressed that the contests “have resulted in writers who today are of an important pen for our country”.

In addition, he indicated as a first the installment publication starting this Friday of a new book by Benito Irady on Rómulo Gallegos and the Generation of 28 under the edition of Monte Ávila Editores.
