CENAL certified the winners of the 1st Teresa de la Parra Literature Contest in Zulia

The president of the National Book Center (CENAL), Raúl Cazal, awarded certificates to the winning students of the 1st National Youth Literature Competition Teresa de la Parra, at an event held at the recently reopened Berta Vega Bookstore of the South in Maracaibo, Zulia state

Aydana Paz, Andrea García, Gabriela Zumztein, Gresvani Colina, Ivana Morales, Leidymar Ortega, Rosangel Posada, Franyelis Soto and María Linares were awarded in the Short Stories category. Georgina Alvarado and Mariangely Pirela were the winners in the Essay category. Finally, in the Letters category, the work of Anaylis Roque and Orleiny Garcia was awarded.

In the same way, Deputy Minister Cazal highlighted the importance of this seedbed for the training of new women writers under the commitment to strengthening the new generations.

“We considered that it was appropriate to first create a seedbed and train teachers to work with their students,” he said in reference to the prelude to the competition with teacher training in the seminar In the Footsteps of Teresa de la Parra given by the National School of Narrative of Venezuela (ESTANAVE).

The competition organized by the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture through CENAL, which is limited to the Manuel Vadell National Reading Plan, was aimed at high school students and inspired by the celebration of the life and work of Teresa de la Parra, one of the most outstanding Venezuelan writers of the 20th century and whose novel Ifigenia celebrated 100 years since its publication.
