The Bolivian Workers' Central (COB) confirmed that it will continue the national strike in protest against Decree 5503, which eliminates fuel subsidies.

The executive secretary of the COB, Mario Argollo, assured that the organization will not negotiate outside its bases and denied the existence of an agreement with the Government of Rodrigo Paz to suspend the mobilizations scheduled for December 22.

In a message released on social networks, Argollo described the Government's provision as “arbitrary and dictatorial” and warned that it keeps the population in uncertainty, according to a press release from Telesur.

The union leader stressed that the rule only benefits privileged business groups and invited social organizations to join the protest, stressing that the action does not respond to political interests, but to a popular demand.
