The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, during his speech at the Mid-term Ministerial Meeting of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (MNOAL), which is being held in Uganda, reiterated Venezuela's commitment to the fight for respect for the sovereignty of peoples.

In this regard, he explained that beyond “deepening cooperation for shared global prosperity”, as indicated in the motto of this meeting, it is necessary to “put an end to the chains that are intended to be imposed on our peoples, with criminal unilateral coercive measures and blockades to surrender our countries, to steal their resources and undermine their opportunities to move towards a better future”.

He highlighted the imperative need to build a world “in which no nation has to beg, in which no country has to bow to the designs of foreign powers, and in which no people are left behind”, while explaining that these premises are “increasingly threatened by imposition, force and lies, including through disinformation and propaganda operations”.

The head of the diplomatic office denounced, before the forum, the escalation of military threats by the government of the United States (USA) to which Venezuela has been subject in recent weeks, “under the pretext of a false fight against drug trafficking.”

“To date, at least 27 civilians have been victims of what can only be defined as true extrajudicial executions (...) these are murders committed with total malevolence, in international waters, thousands of kilometers off the coast of the United States, in actions that violate all norms of international law, as well as the right to life, to the presumption of innocence and to due process. In this regard, we emphasize that there is no justification for the militarization of our coasts or for the extrajudicial execution of civilians in the Caribbean,” stressed the foreign minister.

In addition, he specified that the “unjustified aggression” of the US Government “hides an old ambition: to realize its already failed plans for regime change, to take control of the resources of our country, where the world's first proven oil reserves are located.”

Finally, he stated the determination of the Venezuelan people, who, in perfect civic-military-police union, are determined to defend “our sovereignty, our political independence and our territorial integrity; the Venezuelan people are determined to continue to win.”
