During the installation of the Meeting of the Network of Jurists, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, denounced that the United Nations system has been “mortally wounded” after the operation that resulted in the kidnapping of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the first lady, Cilia Flores.

From the Teresa Carreño Theater, the Chancellor warned that the world is facing a historic crossroads: respect for diplomacy or a return to the “law of the jungle”.

Gil emphasized that the attack against President Maduro is not just an aggression against a country, but a flagrant violation of the pillars that led to the creation of the United Nations (UN) 80 years ago.

“This is an unprecedented event in contemporary history. The immunity enjoyed by Heads of State has been violated, a fundamental norm that does not depend on the recognition of other governments, because the only one who must recognize their president is their own people,” said the Chancellor.

The minister noted that ignoring these diplomatic prerogatives sets a dangerous precedent for global security. “If the law of the strongest is imposed through technological and military resources, we would be entering a disarray with unthinkable consequences for the stability of the planet,” he warned.

During his speech, the head of the foreign ministry called on the Network of Jurists to build a doctrine that would serve as a shield against aggression.

“We have to fight in the legal, diplomatic and dialogue fields. Our task is to preserve the order that guarantees peace. The return of President Maduro and the first female fighter will mean the victory of reason over weapons and of life over death,” Gil said.

He asserted that President Nicolás Maduro has become a symbol and will be the main flag of stability and peace.
