The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, rejected this Wednesday Canada's illegal incursion into the Essequibo, through the company Reunion Gold, in addition to taking sides in favor of Guyana in the dispute over the territory that legitimately belongs to Venezuela.

Canada, a constant aggressor against Venezuela, always seeking to provoke and harm our homeland, is now illegally engaging in a territorial dispute, taking sides, violating all the principles established between Guyana and Venezuela,” said Foreign Minister Gil through his account on the social network X.

These statements come after the visit of the Canadian Deputy Minister for the Americas, Glen Linder, to the Essequibo, in an area where he illegally explores the North American company, according to information from the Canadian High Commission for Guyana and Suriname in his user X, where they express their position of support for Guyana in the controversy.

In this regard, the Venezuelan diplomat stressed that “Canada has no art or part in matters relating to Guiana Essequiba”, so he urged the Guyanese government to “immediately demand the withdrawal of this statement” and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to “take note of the reckless and malicious declaration that is an affront to peace and to our region”.
