The Minister of Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, in telephone contact with the State channel, Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), assured that the XI Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), will send a message to world of defense of the sovereignty of Peoples.

He specified that this meeting will make it possible to follow up on the April 24 summit and review the alliance's integration plans, “as we know, ALBA-TCP is perhaps the integration option with a commitment to solidarity and complementarity; it is a truly new and novel option created by President Hugo Chávez and Commander Fidel Castro.”

He also noted that the Venezuelan presidential elections will also be an issue to be addressed, while recalling that several countries have congratulated and sent messages of support to the Venezuelan people and the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro. In addition, he stressed that the ALBA-TCP “has established a very clear position, a position of defending the principles of integrity, non-interference, respect in internal affairs and surely today the leaders will be discussing each of these aspects and sending a message of unity.”

With regard to countries that are unaware of the president 's re-election, he said that the “vast majority of the international community, the true international community, not the one that abrogates the right of representation, has sent a very clear message; which is a message of respect for the electoral results, a message of respect for the integrity of Venezuela.”

In that regard, he urged “the true international community to respect the issues of Venezuela (...) the institutionality is working. “The true international community grouped in these 10 ALBA countries, in Asian countries, such as China, but also Russia, Iran, Algeria, Vietnam and other Latin American countries, such as Honduras, have established a very clear position: to demand from the world respect the will of the people of Venezuela, to demand that the world not interfere in internal affairs.”
