The Dr. Gilberto Rodríguez Ochoa Latin American Children's Cardiological Hospital has performed 863 pediatric cardiovascular surgeries during 2025, said Nuramy Gutiérrez, General Director of the Hospital.

“It is a source of extraordinary pride to celebrate with all the latest numbers we have obtained at the hospital, more than 650 surgeries this year, it places us on a par with very few countries in the world. In 2025, we reached 650 cardiovascular surgeries on November 25, which are part of the 863 interventions that include 85 hemodynamic procedures, 15 pacemakers and 112 non-cardiovascular perioperative cardiovascular surgeries,” he said.

In this regard, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health, he stressed that this achievement was achieved despite the economic blockade and unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government against our country.

“This achievement is said very quickly, but it has lots of actors behind it, first of all, it has a group of men and women who give their daily, permanent and constant work so that we can care for girls, boys and young people with congenital heart diseases, and it also has a supportive government since President Chávez had that extraordinary vision of caring for children with congenital heart disease since 2006 and a current government that, despite all the blockade to which we are subject, have made us a priority and thanks to President Nicolás Maduro, we continue to attend,” he emphasized.

The children's cardiological hospital remains a national and international reference hospital and continues to guarantee achievements of the Bolivarian Government with free, quality and efficiency in the National Public Health System.
