The Republic of Chile is facing 12 active fires, mainly concentrated in the region of La Araucanía, which have burned 14,402 hectares of forests and grasslands, according to the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf).
According to Conaf, forest fires have spread to other regions of Chile, including O'Higgins, Maule, Ñuble and Biobío.
In response to this emergency, the Government of Chile ordered to send to the area the two planes contracted for the current summer season, each capable of delivering 15,000 liters of water and operating under adverse conditions.
The forest fires began at the end of the previous week and this Thursday, authorities reported the extension of the curfew for six communes in La Araucanía known as Angol, Ercilla, Collipulli, Traiguén, Lumaco and Galvarino.
