The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Argentina issued a statement through its X account in response to statements made by the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States (USA), Scot Bessent, during his visit to the heavenly nation last Monday, April 14, 2025 regarding defamation and slander.
The document issued by the representative rejected the accusations of “rapacious and traps” debt agreements attributed to the Asian giant by the American official and also accuses him of and a malicious action, with defamation and slander, to discredit China's cooperation with other nations.
In this regard, the text defends China's cooperation with Argentina and other developing countries, arguing that it is based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, without imposing political conditions.
“China accompanies developing countries on their path to development, including those in Latin America and Africa, without imposing any political conditioning,” the embassy said in its statement.
In that regard, he criticized the United States for trying to “sow discord” in China-Argentina and China-Africa relations, and for deliberately obstructing or sabotaging other countries' assistance to developing nations. He also accused the US of “sacrificing the welfare of peoples” in defense of its “selfish geopolitical interests”.
