The government of Xi Jinping in the People's Republic of China reiterated its rejection of the use or threat of the use of force in international relations and expressed its opposition to any attempt at external interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela, under any pretext.

The spokesman for the Asian Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, stressed that Latin America and the Caribbean must be maintained as an area of peace and stability, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.

“The United States must immediately stop corresponding actions and prevent the situation from escalating further,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman's office added.

China's reaction comes amid the deployment of American ships, aircraft and drones in the Caribbean Sea, including a nuclear submarine and thousands of missiles under the assumption of operations against drug trafficking.

Previously, the spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, also expressed her opposition to any act that violates the sovereignty and security of other States, and urged Washington to “do more for the good of Latin America and the Caribbean, instead of undermining its stability.”
