China established a series of ambitious plans for the aerospace industry, according to a preliminary work report shared by Premier Li Qiang at the National People's Assembly, which covers the period between 2026 and 2030. The document states that the Asian giant “will promote emerging pillar industries such as integrated circuits, aviation, space, biomedicine and the low-altitude economy”.

The country's main contractor, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), previously indicated its plans to enter emerging sectors such as space resource extraction and digital infrastructure in orbit.

It is also contemplated to implement a second phase of planetary exploration projects, asteroid defense initiatives, as well as missions to the limits of the Solar System.

Next, the development of reusable vehicles for the launch of heavy loads, the construction of an international lunar research station and the implementation of lunar exploration projects are proposed, which could reflect China's objective of sending its first astronauts to the Moon before 2030.

In addition, advances in satellite internet are included, in addition to plans to establish data centers in orbit. Other sectors covered by the text include artificial intelligence, quantum science and biotechnology.
