China: Super Typhoon Kong-rey heads to Taiwan

The cyclonic storm Kong-rey intensified its strength, reaching the category of super typhoon with wind gusts exceeding 230 kilometers per hour, according to the Philippine Meteorological Agency (Pagasa).
The powerful typhoon is heading towards the Chinese island of Taiwan, where it is expected to hit on Thursday, discharging with heavy rains, Telesur said.
Kong-rey, which is known as León in the Philippines, has sustained winds of up to 185 kilometers per hour, with gusts exceeding 230 km/h and was located 350 kilometers east of the province of Cagayan, in the north of the Philippines.
Kong-rey's arrival comes just one week after Typhoon Trami caused at least 125 fatalities in the Philippines, affected more than seven million people and damaged tens of thousands of homes.
