The Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Housing and Infrastructure Habitability granted the red label classification to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, located in the Sucre parish of Caracas, after detecting structural damage to its facilities.
According to information from Venezolana de Televisión, the parish priest José Aquino reported that the main damages are concentrated on the walls and altar of the temple.
He also added that the parish school was also damaged, so it was classified with a yellow label, while technical evaluations continue.
However, the parish priest assured that the parish will continue to accompany families affected by the earthquakes. “Our people right now need to be accompanied, listened to and guided and that is the mission of the church,” he said.
In addition, he indicated that the facilities of the San Rafael de Pagüita Parish School will be subject to new inspections to determine the extent of the damage and define recovery actions.
