In the Portuguese state, a criminal organization dedicated to the theft of cattle was dismantled by the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC).

The hamponil group operated in the municipality of Turén and consisted of five people who were captured and placed under the command of the Third and Fifth Public Prosecutor's Offices.

The police report, released by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), indicates that the arrests occurred after extensive investigative work that made it possible to identify and find those responsible for the theft of cattle from local farms.

Those arrested were identified as José Gregorio Silva Petit (51), nicknamed El Cheo; José Javier Querales (24), alias El Negro; a 17-year-old boy, nicknamed El Menor; Deiby Alfredo Martínez Amaro (36), nicknamed Care Papa; and Andrés Ramón Rivero Querales (20), nicknamed El Rafucho.

The organization's “modus operandi” was to enter the premises carrying firearms and subjecting employees to death threats, stripping them of their motorcycles, belongings and appropriating both cattle and parts and pieces of agricultural machinery. The stolen goods were later marketed.

The arrests, by officials of the Municipal Delegation of Cicpc Acarigua, were carried out in the Las Caramas hamlet, in the Turen municipality, leading to the recovery of different pieces of agricultural machinery, cell phones, a partially robbed motorcycle owned by one of the victims, and a shotgun that was used to carry out the robberies.
