Cinemateca Nacional announces free workshops to promote film production

These courses will be available in online and face-to-face modalities

A wide range of free audiovisual workshops that will begin in the month of June, with the objective of promoting national film and audiovisual production, announced the National Cinemateca Foundation (FCN), an entity attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC).

These courses will be available online and in person, aimed at people over 18 years of age. The workshops will be given by leading professionals in the sector, in two modalities: online via WhatsApp and in person at their facilities.

These workshops are designed to offer flexibility and accessibility, allowing participants to train from anywhere:

Online Workshops

  • Creating an animated short film

Taught by: Ricardo Martínez

Dates: From 01 to 29 June

Schedule: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Content: Develop the creative vision of an animated audiovisual piece. (Aimed at those who attended the online Animation workshop I).

  • Beyond Imagination: Exploring Reality to Build Cinematic Stories

Taught by: Gabriel Castillo

Dates: From June 4th to July 1st

Schedule: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Objective: To develop creative and methodological skills to transform elements of reality into cinematic stories.

  • Basic photography I

Taught by: Raimundo Monasterios

Dates: From June 4th to July 2nd

Schedule: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Objective: To learn fundamental camera management and basic knowledge of composition and visual language.

  • 2D animation on smartphones

Taught by: Aldo Polo Vargas

Dates: From June 7th to July 5th

Schedule: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Objective: Learn the basics of 2D animation and create animations with Flipaclip.

Face-to-face workshops

For those who prefer a more immersive and direct learning experience, the FCN offers the following workshops:

  • A Look at Expressionism: Tim Burton's Characterization

Taught by: León Padilla

Dates: From 2 to 30 June

Schedule: 1:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Objective: To learn about influences from romantic Gothic to expressionist art, exploring dark and sinister characteristics.

  • Basic photography

Taught by: Jesús Contreras

Dates: From June 4th to July 2nd

Schedule: 1:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Objective: To learn basic concepts of image, use of light, composition and photographic editing.

  • Use of Artificial Intelligence for the marketing of audiovisual products

Taught by: Luz Cornejo

Dates: From June 9th to July 7th

Schedule: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Objective: To introduce AI tools applicable to audiovisual marketing, exploring opportunities and challenges in the Venezuelan context.

  • Audiovisual production with mobile devices

Taught by: Fernando Urquía

Dates: From June 11 to July 9

Schedule: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Objective: To develop skills and techniques necessary to make audiovisual pieces with mobile devices.

  • Lights, camera, smartphone!

Taught by: Miguel Laffé

Dates: From June 13th to July 11th

Schedule: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Objective: Learn to produce high-quality audiovisual content with a smartphone, to optimize processes and improve efficiency.

  • Photographic composition

Taught by: John Moreno, photographer, cameraman and audiovisual editor with 24 years of experience.

Dates: From June 13th to July 11th

Schedule: 1:45 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Objective: Theoretical-practical workshop for basic and intermediate level photographers, covering visual language, point and line, elements of composition and composition techniques.
