The first edition of Noche Cinemateca, the new cycle of cultural activations at the National Cinematheque, will be dedicated to the celebration of Afro-Venezuelanism through a multisensory experience inspired by the Feast of Saint John the Baptist.

This is “The Echo of the Custodies: San Juan's Sensory Dream”, a performative and immersive proposal conceived by researcher and creator Dayon Moiz, founder of the collective Venezuela Indomita.

The event will be next Friday, June 26 at the Museum of Fine Arts (MBA), in Caracas. It will begin at 6:00 in the afternoon with the screening of the film “Azú, the soul of a princess”, by director Luis Alberto Lamata, and will continue with a sensory journey designed to explore the symbols, sounds, scents and memories associated with the Vigil of Saint John.

The public will be able to simultaneously enjoy gastronomy, cocktails and other activations that will last until 11:00 at night and will be distributed between the Cinemateca lobby and the room itself.

Noche Cinemateca explores new forms of dialogue between cinema and Venezuelan cultural manifestations. Starting with the film, it focuses on the women who protect the cult of San Juan throughout the year and guarantee the continuity of a tradition transmitted from generation to generation.

Tickets to the event are worth Bs. 1,800 and can now be purchased online through the payment link located in the Instagram biography of the National Cinemateca (@cinematecanacional_ve). As capacity is limited, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance.
