Closing of the World Birdwatching Congress in Mérida (+balance sheet)

The Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Leticia Gómez, gave an assessment of the development of the World Birdwatching Congress, held on the Mukumbari Cable Car, in the state of Mérida.

During the closing of the event, Gómez highlighted that Venezuela has the fifth place in birdwatching in the world. “Yesterday, a whole day of birdwatching took place in all the states of Venezuela and we are still in fifth place,” he ratified.

In this regard, he pointed out that “lists are still being added, but it is still specialized tourism, birdwatching, observation of flora and fauna, an element that differentiates us because of the megadiversity that Venezuela has.”

He indicated that during the event, a series of conferences was held by leading scientists, ornithologists and birdwatchers from all 21 countries that participated in the Congress.
