Colombia activates Plan Democracy ahead of legislative elections on Sunday, March 8

This Tuesday, the Colombian Defense Minister, Pedro Sánchez, announced the launch of the so-called Democracy Plan, a strategy aimed at ensuring public order, transparency and the normal conduct of the legislative elections next Sunday, March 8.
The official specified that 246,000 law enforcement personnel have already been deployed, who will guard 13,493 voting stations across the country. He also indicated that 127 municipalities have been classified as priorities in terms of security ahead of the elections.
According to information detailed by Telesur, the plan contemplates five fundamental axes, including the protection of the territory in the 32 departments, as well as the security of candidates and centers authorized to vote.
The minister also recalled that citizens can report possible irregularities related to electoral crimes through Anti-Corruption Line 157.
The official added that the Government offers rewards of up to 50 million pesos equivalent to just over 13,000 dollars at the current exchange rate and guarantees absolute confidentiality to those who provide information to detect anomalies.
