Colombia: President Petro called for fighting climate change during COP16

Last Sunday, the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, highlighted during the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity (COP16), the crucial role of his country in the fight against climate change and stated that: “we are the heart of life on the planet”.

During the COP16 in the city of Cali, Valle del Cauca, in his opening speech, President Petro addressed issues such as market regulation to protect life, the decarbonization of the economy and the proposal to exchange debt for climate action.

The president also criticized the unregulated use of artificial intelligence, pointing out its dependence on fossil energies “An artificial intelligence that today uses dirty and fossil energies such as coal, oil and gas”.
